About Fabrizio Lorenzani

Fabrizio Lorenzani is born in Carrara, since he was very young he starts a rigorous professional training in the artisan laboratories and the art schools of his town. After the graduation in the marble school, and "Liceo Artistico" he enters in the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara where he experiences the techniques and working process of varies materials.
In 1989 he opens his personal atelier and starts to go deeply into his own artistic way where from the beginning there is a strong central research which is able to rather emphasize the inner structure of marble than his external shape,,

In a very first step in which his works with still some figurative recalls, based on the resolution and re composition of forms, are replaced by a new conception, which sees sculpture like a real "construction" with a strong architectonical value.
These also are the years in which Lorenzani starts his teaching at the Marble school of Carrara and working with various world wide known artists like Vercolier, Ferenbach, Kuetani, Kafri, Angel Camino, ect.

After the participation of various sculpture symposiums he starts a tour of exhibitions showing his works in Lussembourg, France, Spain, Germany. His art works are collocated in various public spaces and commissioned by private institutes: a huge wall decoration in ceramics a Cinisello Balsamo (Mailand), different works for European Institute of Design Foundation (Cagliari), a big sculpture in Ferrari vineyard estate (Podernuovo, Terriciola, PI) are going side by side with public works in the Public Squares of various Italian and German cities, such as Pisa, Carrara, Teulada, Cavaion Veronese, Nanto, Fanano, Condrieu, Velpke e Schondorf.

The research of balance, the attempt to render "light" a naturally heavy material such as stone are the characteristics of a kind of sculpture in which a base of spirituality tries to liberate itself from the material. Clearness, proportion and harmony of lines emerge from essential architectures constructed with the attempt to describe the intimate structure of reality.

At a very early stage in which works with figurative references are based on the decomposition and recomposition of the forms, you change soon a new concept in which the sculpture is intended comatose real "building" with a strong architectural value.

These are also the years in which Lorenzani began his career as a lecturer at the School of Carrara marble, and his collaboration with world renowned artists such as Vercolier, Ferenbach, Kuetani, Kafra, Angel Camino, etc.,

The search for equilibrium between solid and void, trying to make "light" and "Ephemeral" a material such as stone, heavy par excellence, are the characteristics of a sculpture in which a spirituality underlying tries to free himself from the matter. Clarity, numerical proportion, harmony lines emerge from very basic, built in an attempt to describe the inner structure of reality.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

They arrived in a perfect condition and when I have opened them I was speechless – Shaun, they look great.

I got the picture from you where I could see them before but in reality they look much more better !!! JJJ

I am really happy – thank you so much that you made them for me.

They will get a perfect place in my garden – ... [Read more]
